Manor College Welcomes New VP of Finance and Facilities
Manor College has officially appointed Shelley Johnson, CPA, MBA, as its new Vice President of Finance and Facilities. Johnson began his role on October 28, bringing with him a wealth of experience in financial leadership and a passion for educational advancement.
“I chose Manor College because I am deeply committed to its mission and values,” Johnson said. “The college’s dedication to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and helping them reach their academic and personal goals truly resonates with me. Being part of a community that prioritizes student success offers immense professional fulfillment.”
Extensive Financial Background
Johnson brings more than 25 years of experience in finance and operations to his new position. He most recently served as the Director of Finance at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, a position he held for over a decade. Prior to that, he spent 15 years at Thomas Jefferson University, where he held several leadership roles, including Director of Operations.
His areas of expertise include managing complex regulatory compliance, spearheading system implementations, and overseeing internal audits and academic accounting practices. Johnson’s leadership has consistently focused on improving operational efficiency and fostering strategic growth.
“Shelley’s qualifications and experiences preceded him,” said Dr. Jonathan Peri, President of Manor College. “We had a highly skilled search committee that included four Certified Public Accountants and six financial professionals, along with other accomplished executives. What set Shelley apart was his interpersonal insight and emotional intelligence.”
More Than Just Numbers
Dr. Peri emphasized that Johnson’s appeal went beyond his financial acumen. “He understands relational dynamics and the importance of attentiveness to others. He exemplifies the wisdom of the saying, ‘he who sows courtesy reaps friendships.’ Shelley’s collaborative spirit and mature perspective will help us achieve more for those we serve.”
Johnson is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an MBA in Finance from La Salle University. A Philadelphia native, he was raised in Mt. Airy and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business from Temple University.
A Historic Institution with a Bright Future
Manor College, located in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, was founded in 1947 by the Ukrainian Sisters of Saint Basil the Great. It remains the only college in the United States established by Ukrainian Sisters and continues to embrace its rich heritage while expanding its academic offerings.
The institution provides more than 30 Bachelor’s and Associate’s degree programs, with a strong emphasis on healthcare education. Programs include practical nursing, pre-nursing, allied health, dental hygiene, dental assisting with expanded functions, and veterinary technology, among others.
With this strategic hire, Manor College reaffirms its commitment to fostering strong financial leadership and operational excellence as it continues to grow and serve an increasingly diverse student population.
Looking Ahead
As Johnson settles into his new role, he is expected to play a pivotal part in guiding the college’s financial strategy and facility management. His presence is seen as a valuable asset in aligning the college’s operational goals with its academic mission.
“We are thrilled to welcome Shelley and his family into the Manor College community,” said Dr. Peri. “His vision, expertise, and dedication to student success make him a perfect fit for our institution.”
