Erin Lyons, Co-Head of credit research provider CreditSights, has recently joined the Markets Media Group’s Women in Finance Advisory Board. Her father’s experience trading Treasury bonds in the 1980s and her brother’s initial career in fixed income inspired her path. “My brother advised me to pursue credit, highlighting how the complexities of bonds would teach me to think multi-dimensionally,” she recalls. Her early work in credit risk analysis laid a strong foundation for understanding market dynamics, shaping her career’s trajectory.
Over the years, Erin has held various roles, from analyst to strategist to portfolio manager, working on both the buy- and sell-side. Each position has contributed to her development as a leader. “Analyzing credit improved my strategic thinking, requiring both top-down and bottom-up perspectives,” she explains. Her experience as a portfolio manager during the financial crisis taught her the importance of focusing on controllable factors and maintaining composure under pressure. This analytical approach is evident in her leadership style today.
In 2024, Erin was recognized with the Excellence in Research award at the Women in Finance Awards. She describes the honor as “humbling,” attributing it to the collective effort of the CreditSights team. “This award acknowledges our collective commitment to excellence and motivates us to continue delivering high-quality research,” says Erin.

Outside of her professional life, Erin enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and gardening. With three children aged 9 to 15, she and her husband Brad cherish opportunities to expose their family to different cultures through travel. Gardening offers Erin a rewarding escape, where she finds joy in the tangible results of hard work, much like the satisfaction she derives from helping clients and delivering new solutions.
